Hey guys, it's Joi here, and today we're talking about the best hair oils for natural hair. Oils are a sealant that seals in moisture, not moisturizers. Even though many of these oils have moisturizing properties, you want to make sure that you're adding moisture to your hair before you apply oil. That's why the liquid, oil, and cream method is very popular. The founder created a process that consisted of adding a liquid (water), an oil, and a cream (styler). This video will be super informative because I did a little research on all the oils—every oil on my list I've used before.

Olive Oil

The first oil I'm going to talk about is olive oil. It's one of the top emollients that can penetrate your hair. It's lightweight, which makes it good for moisturizing. Olive oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff. I used it as a hot oil pre-poo treatment. I put the olive oil in a small cup, heated it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and applied it to my hair before my wash day. Doing this helped soften my hair and make it more manageable. It's one of the cheapest and most accessible oils on the market. Buy extra virgin olive oil in a dark bottle and make sure that the only ingredient in the olive oil is olive oil (no additives).

Jamaica Black Castor Oil

Next, we're going to talk about a really popular oil, and that's Jamaican black castor oil. The one I use Tropic Isle Living is 100% Jamaican black castor oil. With these oils, you want to make sure that you're not buying a mix or a blend if you want to reap the benefits of that specific oil. Castor Oil is thick, so I use it sparingly. A lot of people apply it to their edges if they're having trouble growing them out. I'm not too fond of the smell of black castor oil, so I don't use a heavy amount. I use it for my scalp massages and my ends when it's feeling super duper dry. The benefits of castor oil are its richness in omega-six fatty acids, which prevents hair breakage.

Argan Oil

The next oil we're going to talk about is argan oil. Argan oil is rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E. It's really good for cosmetic reasons and adds a lot of shine to your hair. I also like argan oil because it's not too thick, but it's also not too thin. I use it right after I finished my wash day, and my hair is still soaking wet. To seal in moisture, I apply argan oil on top of my leave-in conditioner. It smells great, and I love using it on my hair on wash days.

Jojoba oil

Next, we're going to talk about jojoba oil. The one I use is Pattern Beauty's jojoba oil hair serum. WARNING, this is an oil mix. Jojoba oil is lightweight, and it helps tame dryness, frizz, hair loss and adds volume. So for people who are seeking thicker hair, this jojoba oil hair serum is a great find.

Oil Blends

To end the video, I just want to talk more about oil blends because not everyone can afford to get the purest form of the oils. A good blend that I like is the Melanin Hair Care Oil Blend. The products aren't cheap, but I do like this oil mix because it's lightweight. I've used this for body and hair. The first ingredient is sweet almond oil, and the second ingredient is avocado oil along with Baobab oil, Argan oil, and vitamin E.

DIY Oil Blends

Also, you can make your blends. I used to do this all the time. I bought a cheap $1 bottle, and I would create my own oil mix. That's how you can reap the benefits of oils at the same time while saving coins. However, you might not want to mix oils like black castor because it's so thick. Also, your most expensive oils are probably better off separate from an oil blend. Those are some tips to keep in mind when you're shopping for oils and applying oils to your hair. I hope that this video was informative for you guys. Make sure you get that free hair growth guide. See ya next time! Bye.
