How to Be PRODUCTIVE and Get Things DONE!

This video will teach you how to have more productive days and get things done. I own two businesses, and I work full time in marketing. I cannot just waste time throughout the day. I need to actively check things off my list throughout my busy day. I'm going to be sharing with you five ways that you can stay more productive so, let's get started.

The first way that you can stay productive is by having a morning routine. I didn't realize how critical morning routines were until I was waking up scrambling to get to work meetings and realizing I had business things that needed to complete earlier than that. One thing I recommend you do is to get your hands on this book. The Miracle Morning is insightful and affordable. It breaks down how you can maximize your day, your life, and well being. I'm trying to get out of the habit of just waking up and getting straight to email. It's so critical that I can have time to wake up, be grateful, and then start my day. This book has awesome tips on how to build a morning routine that works for you. There are different things that he suggests doing are journaling, reading, having fitness, and eating food. There are some other great tips in this book. My morning routine consists of a few of those things like checking email and making sure that my team members have everything they need to start the day. I also have a dog, Louis, that I also take care of. Having a morning routine start calm instead of scrambled will help your productivity tremendously.

My second tip is to have a priorities list. I think it's just important to realize that you're not going to get everything done in a day. To help with that, write three to five things on your to-do list and write them in the order of the most to least important. Knock off the most important things first, and if there are things that need to get pushed through the next day, you can re-schedule them. I like to write my priorities list on my desk whiteboard is just so easy. When I'm working throughout the day, and get off task, I can relook at my whiteboard and be like, "Okay, what do I have to get done today?"

My third tip for productivity is keeping a physical planner. This way you can plan, take notes in meetings, and have a visual list of everything you need to complete. I've used so many different planners in the past. And this quarter, I'm trying out a new planner called the Self Journal. It's a quarterly planner where you can plan out your goals. It's perfect for entrepreneurs or for your 9-5 job that has quarterly goals. It has a quarterly goal section, weekly, monthly, and daily spread. I'm going to link the planner below so you can join the journey of filling it out with me. I think I'm in my second month of planning, and I absolutely love it. I keep so many different notebooks and this has helped me condense all my tasks into one book.

The fourth way to stay more productive and get things done throughout your day is through delegation. If you are a small business owner, you can't grow if you're trying to do everything yourself. Managing your inbox or responding to customer comments on Instagram requires support and help to get back more hours in your day. Think about hiring an assistant from Upwork and Fiverr or post on social media to see if anyone submits a resume. I started my virtual assistant at less than five hours a week, and now she's doing about 25 hours a week. Being able to delegate tasks is a game-changer. If you are an entrepreneur, when it comes to my 9-5 work, I can't delegate tasks to my virtual assistant. But it gives me that space while I'm at work. I know that my virtual assistant is handling things that are important for my business. I want to give you a bonus tip. My virtual assistant and I do not live in the same place. She works remotely, and we use an app called Monday. They have a desktop and mobile version of the app, and it is the way we keep track of what she needs to do for the week. But other than we do not have touchpoints. We use Monday to keep track of what she's working on and link different docs and things that will help her complete her work. We track her hours and budget on there. I'll have it linked down below. It's great if you're a solopreneur or if you have team members. It's great for tracking projects, the status of projects, and seeing in a timeline. So check out Monday. It's a great productivity app.

My last tip is to give yourself a little bit of grace. We all have so many things that we want to accomplish, and if you don't get everything done today, this week, this month, or even this year, don't beat yourself up. That's why I always recommend keeping a shortlist of only the important things. That should help you feel accomplished at the end of the day, instead of feeling overwhelmed that you didn't get 20 things out of your 30 items on your to-do list done. That's just not realistic. Give yourself a little bit of grace, and know that you have another day to try to get back at it again.
